PHS 9th Graders Explore STEM and Health Careers at UTRGV Florence Nightingale Day

Each year, the UTRGV Math Department hosts this event, where students have the opportunity to hear from professionals in the fields of data and statistics and learn about the importance of mathematics in various careers, especially in health sciences.

This experience is highly beneficial, as it allows students to explore a college environment while gaining motivation to pursue higher education and consider majors in STEM fields, particularly in health science. Students especially enjoyed the hands-on activities, including applying data in a racing cars activity.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Sidketa Fofana and Dr. Tamer Oraby from UTRGV for organizing such a meaningful and engaging event. We also appreciate the Palmview High School teachers and faculty who contributed to making the day run smoothly!
