Palmview High School Focuses on Instruction, Support, and Pride as Testing Season Approaches
Palmview High School continues to move forward with purpose as the campus prepares for key state and college readiness assessments. As of this week, we now have:
10 instructional days before the TELPAS testing window opens
37 instructional days until STAAR testing begins
56 instructional days until AP testing begins
With these milestones approaching, instructional focus and student support remain top priorities.
Across classrooms, Palmview High School is implementing the campus-wide instructional strategy Think–Write–Pair–Share, emphasizing academic language and the ELA ACE strategy to strengthen student responses and deepen understanding.
Celebrating Our Staff 💬
Palmview High School proudly recognizes the outstanding work happening daily across campus:
Science Department 🧪✍️📘 — Students across all observed classrooms demonstrated strong written responses using academic language. Shout out to Ms. Cruz, Mr. Moreno, and Mr. Gonzalez for excellent instructional practices.
Mr. Jonathan Cantu (English II) 🧑🏫✅📝 — Recognized for using whiteboards to check understanding of all students, stamping lessons with clarity, and providing strong exemplars.
Mrs. V. Chapa (English I) 👥🎯📚 — Commended for effective small-group instruction that provides targeted support and meaningful differentiation.
Counseling Department 🎓📋🏆 — Congratulations on achieving the highest student registration completion rate in the district before the deadline. Your teamwork continues to make a powerful impact.

Student Support & Intervention
Palmview High School remains committed to supporting all learners through intentional intervention:
TELPAS Language Development: Emergent Bilingual students engage with Summit K12 for targeted language acquisition.
Monday Language Focus:
ELA: Speaking & Writing
Social Studies & CTE: Listening & Reading
STAAR Tutoring: All tested core subjects offer after-school tutoring on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, using tools such as MATHia, LEXIA, Summit K12, SAVVAS, Lead4ward, and STAAR released questions.
AP Support: College Board resources are available during after-school sessions and testing camps.
