La Joya, TX - When the Friday night lights come on at La Joya ISD PACK Stadium this football season, fans will have something new - and impossible to miss - to look forward to.

La Joya ISD has completed installation of its new state-of-the-art video scoreboard, bringing the largest video scoreboard in the Rio Grande Valley to PACK Stadium just in time for the 2026 football season. The massive LED display is ready to transform game nights and district events into an even more dynamic experience while giving La Joya ISD a new platform to put its students and their accomplishments front and center.

From instant replays and live video to student recognitions, school spirit, performances, and special moments, the new display brings an entirely new dimension to PACK Stadium. More importantly, it creates another opportunity for the thousands of students, families, alumni, and community members who gather at the stadium throughout the year to see La Joya ISD students celebrated on one of the region’s biggest stages.

“This is one of those projects where you can immediately see the impact of an investment in our facilities,” said S.B. Pierson, Chief of Operations & Infrastructure for La Joya ISD. “PACK Stadium is a gathering place for our entire district, and we wanted this venue to reflect the pride and excellence of the students and communities it represents.”

The completed project delivers on an initiative unanimously approved by the La Joya ISD School Board in November 2025 as part of a nearly $2 million investment in new video displays and scoreboard systems throughout the district. In addition to the centerpiece at PACK Stadium, the project includes display boards and scoreboard systems at La Joya High School, Palmview High School, and Juarez-Lincoln High School.

The venue hosts a variety of athletic competitions, fine arts performances, student recognitions, and district and community events throughout the year. Its expanded multimedia capabilities will allow La Joya ISD to showcase the many students whose talents make those experiences possible - from athletes competing on the field to band members, cheerleaders, dancers, student performers, and other student organizations.

“For our student-athletes, there is something special about seeing yourself, your teammates, and your school represented on a stage like this,” said Joe Peña, Executive Director of Athletics for La Joya ISD. “Our students work incredibly hard, and this scoreboard adds an energy and excitement to game day that they deserve. But what makes it even better is that it gives us the opportunity to recognize all of the students who contribute to the atmosphere and tradition of Friday nights at La Joya ISD.”

The completion advances La Joya ISD’s Achieving Excellence Together: 2030 Strategic Plan, supporting the district’s commitment to Thriving Students; Community Trust, Unity & Partnership; and Operational Excellence & Financial Stability. Through strategic investments in facilities and infrastructure, the district continues working to create high-quality environments and experiences that support students while strengthening the connection between its schools and community.

What began as a vision to modernize one of La Joya ISD’s most recognizable gathering places is now ready to shine.

As the first kickoff approaches, the new scoreboard will do more than keep track of the action on the field. It will capture the moments, faces, accomplishments, and traditions that make La Joya ISD Friday nights special.
