La Joya ISD Students Reach New Heights with Record Growth in Advanced Placement Success

La Joya, TX - More La Joya ISD students are earning college credit before graduation than ever before, marking another significant milestone in the district's commitment to expanding academic opportunities and preparing students for success beyond high school.

Preliminary 2026 Advanced Placement (AP) results released by the College Board show substantial gains across the district, reflecting continued growth in student achievement, rigorous instruction, and college readiness.

According to preliminary results, La Joya ISD students earned 985 qualifying AP exam scores of 3 or higher - an increase of 273 passing scores compared to 2025. Students who earn qualifying AP scores may receive college credit, allowing them to save on future tuition costs while beginning their higher education journey with valuable academic momentum.

The district's AP success rate also climbed to 25.1% in 2026, up from 21.0% in 2025 and 18.5% in 2024, marking the third consecutive year of growth. Since 2024, the district has achieved an impressive 47.7% increase in qualifying AP scores, representing the largest year-over-year gain during the past three years.

La Joya ISD also celebrated a successful first year of offering the AP Seminar course, with 152 students earning qualifying scores, further expanding opportunities for students to develop critical thinking, research, collaboration, and communication skills that prepare them for college and career success.

The district experienced growth across multiple AP subject areas, including English Literature, Chemistry, Physics, Macroeconomics, Human Geography, and U.S. Government & Politics, demonstrating continued academic excellence across a diverse range of disciplines.

The preliminary results further support La Joya ISD's ongoing efforts to increase access to advanced academic programs and align with the district's Achieving Excellence Together: 2030 Strategic Plan, which prioritizes preparing empowered graduates through rigorous learning experiences and expanded college and career pathways.
